Quest for Glory 1 Easter Eggs

Quest for Glory 1: So you want to be a hero EGA
  1. The antwerp in the Adventurer's Guild was slain by the Two Guys from Andromeda, aka Scott Murphy and Mark Crowe, the creators of the Space Quest series.
  2. The submarine from Codename: Iceman sometimes appears at Mirror Lake.
  3. At Erasmus' place, there's a plane labelled Lytton PD in the room where you first enter. Lytton PD is the police department in Police Quests 1-3.
  4. Also at Erasmus' place, there are some hieroglyphics on a stone. Look at them. The stone is described as a "Rosella stone" (reference to KQ4). Rosella is also on it.
  5. At the main menu, right click on the scorpion. Congratulations! You've discovered the first bug in the game!
  6. Sometimes during the game, you get bitten by a program bug (and die). Guess this is the Coles' way of saying: Error found.
  7. At Erasmus' place, look at the armor standing close to the stairs. You can see it's from Colonel Dijon(Dijon is a character from Sierra's "Colonel's Bequest").
  8. The moose's head in the adventurer's guild is courtesy of the Sierra Prop Department.
  9. If you click on an uninteresting part of the screen and there's no response, keep clicking. Sometimes you get funny messages.
  10. The blackbird that appears in all of the QFG games is in the brigand leader's office (although the hero doesn't know what it's for yet).
  11. Try cutting up the spirea plant with your sword or attacking the white stag with a rock, dagger or flame dart. Then go to the Dryad. Save first, because you'll get killed. :-)
  12. Eat the mushrooms from the mushroom ring. Only do it once, 'cause you get killed the second time.
  13. One of the messages you can get when clicking on something that's useless tells you that you may have already won a free trip to Shapeir. You just need to buy Quest For Glory 2: Trial By Fire, coming soon to a software retailer near you.
  14. On the original Hero's Quest box, the three characters (fighter, magic user and thief) are displayed. Corey Cole is the fighter, Lori Cole is the magic user and Larry Scott (one of the programmers) is the thief.
  15. Talk to the bear at the kobold's cave (northeastern area of valley). The game will respond that bears can't talk. Try it again. This time you get a different answer.
  16. When you give the seed to the Dryad, she will say "Now this will boldly grow where none has grown before", a spoof on the famous "To boldly go where none have gone before" quote from Star Trek.

Quest for Glory 1: So you want to be a hero VGA
  1. The antwerp in the Adventurer's Guild was slain by the Two Guys from Andromeda, aka Scott Murphy and Mark Crowe, the creators of the Space Quest series.
  2. Look at the lamp in the inn. You'll get a message "Lamp for rent. Inquire in Quest For Glory 2: Trial by Fire for information.".
  3. The submarine from Codename: Iceman sometimes appears at Mirror Lake.
  4. Delphineus from Eco Quest 1 sometimes appears at Mirror Lake.

  6. If you look at a tree in the forest long enough, the hero calls it a Daventree (Daventry is the homeland of the King's Quest characters).
  7. In the town, find the poor beggar. When you give him an alm, talk to him. He will tell you a story about a man who invented a cider. He calls it Amblin Entertainment from Spielburg (referring to Amblin's Entertainment from Steven Spielburg).
  8. If you're walking around and the earth begins to shake, don't worry! It's just Earl Sinclair from the famous Dinosaurs series going either to work or back home.
  9. The gargoyle's questions at Erasmus' place contain a lot of cameos. The following things are mentioned: "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" (the "What is the meaning of life, the universe and everything?" question, the answer "42" and the comment "So you put some Deep Thought into the question, eh? (Deep Thought was the computer that found the answer)) "The Wizard of Oz" ("I am Oz, the great and terrible" answer, the gargoyle's reply "And who am I, Dorothy?" plus also the answer "The Wizard of Oz" to the question "Who do you seek here?" and the gargoyle's comment "Somehow, I don't think you're in Kansas anymore"), "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" ("I seek the Holy Grail" answer and the gargoyle's reply "Sorry, that Jones guy found it already"), "Secret of Monkey Island" ("I want to be a pirate" answer), "King's Quest" (answer "I am King Graham Cracker" and the gargoyle's comment "Right, and I am princess Rubella"), The Princess Bride ("I am Inigo Montalban." "You sold my car. Prepare to fly" (Originally a guy named Inigo Montoya, who's trying to avenge his dead father. He says "You killed my father. Prepare to die." a lot.)), Star Trek: TNG ("To boldly go where noone has gone before" answer). (the Princess Bride and the Star Trek: TNG stuff )
  10. Also at Eramus, look at the sarcophagus. You will see it's a Leyendecker sarcophagus(it has a ribbon around it). It is also tied in Laura Bow (Laura Bow is a character from "Colonel's Bequest", and "Dagger of Amon Ra", both from Sierra On-line)
  11. The moose head at the adventurer's guild is courtesy of the Sierra Prop Department.
  12. The blackbird that appears in all of the QFG games is in the brigand leader's office (although the hero doesn't know what it's for yet).
  13. On the screen left of Erasmus' mountain, you can sometimes find Elmer Fudd hunting wabbit (the screen where you can only go left or right). (submitted by macky@e2.empirenet.com)
  14. Try cutting up the spirea plant with your sword or attacking the white stag with a rock, dagger or flame dart. Then go to the Dryad. Save first, because you'll get killed. :-)
  15. Eat one of the mushrooms from the mushroom ring. Only do it once, though since you get killed the second time.
  16. In the ending scene, all the people who worked on the game can be seen. Also, Jerry Moore (right side of the screen) is in a Star Trek uniform.
  17. Look at the goblins popping out from behind trees, bushes, etc. in the goblin area. They have names like "Hollywood, the virtual goblin."
  18. The name Magic Mountain is the name of a series of amusement parks throughout the U.S.
  19. Talk to the bear at the kobold's cave (northeastern area of valley). The game will respond that bears can't talk. Try it again. This time you get a different answer.
  20. When you give the seed to the Dryad, she will say "Now this will boldly grow where none has grown before", a spoof on the famous "To boldly go where none have gone before" quote from Star Trek.
